J. David Carroll has joined the law firm of Sands Anderson Marks & Miller, P.C., as a member of the Business Finance and Real Estate practice group, firm president Pierce Rucker announced today.

“We feel extremely fortunate to have the chance to add David, with his considerable skills in corporate acquisitions, finance and venture capital, to our growing team of business attorneys,” said Rucker.

Carroll has a deep background in corporate finance stemming from his prior legal experiences in large law firms as well as serving twice as General Counsel of private concerns, including eleven years as a director of an investment banking firm. Carroll will focus his law practice at Sands Anderson on corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, as well as venture capital deals and operations. He will co-chair the Business Transaction team.

“We are excited about our clients and practice team having access to David’s unique experience as a member of the management team of a firm deeply involved in corporate financing, mergers and acquisitions, as well as putting his significant legal skills to work in what has become the fastest growing section of our law firm,” remarked Practice Chair Brian R. Pitney.

Pitney pointed out that, just over a week ago, the firm announced the formation of a Financial Recovery Team of attorneys able to assist financial institutions and businesses struggling with difficult economic conditions.

Carroll recently was Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel at an internet marketing company that built and operated a web-based, family-oriented management and communication home page. Carroll is a retired U. S. Air Force officer where he served for 20 years as a Fighter Pilot and commander having his last duty station with the Virginia Air National Guard. He is an active volunteer leader with the Boy Scouts and serves as a teacher at Third Presbyterian Church in Richmond Virginia.
